Nutty Russian:


1 shot vodka

1 shot coffee liqueur (such as Khalua)

1 shot hazelnut liqueur (Frangelico or Creme de Noisette)

Method: Shake ingredients with ice and strain into ice filled glass (or crushed ice).

Aliwen Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

This is a simple variant on a Black Russian made more interesting by the addition of hazelnut. I rather like the combination and you can use other nut flavoured liqueurs if you fancy but hazelnut is probably the one you are most likely to find. Crushed ice makes the drink slightly longer thanks to dilution and a bit less sweet (depending on your coffee liqueur it can sometimes be a slightly syrupy tasting drink on the rocks or without ice).
